Viral Video Examples: Thriller in Prison This video of Michael Jackson's Thriller dance performed by the inmates of the Cebu Provincial Detention Center in Cebu, Philippines became a viral-video sensation in 2008, and has inspired other large-scale Thriller dances to be performed, filmed and posted on YouTube by groups from around the world. The original video has been viewed more than 40 million times on YouTube alone! Although this video was not created to market a particular product, it shows how the creation of an event that is both large and entertaining can spread via the internet and take on a life far beyond the original creation. If plan to have an event as a part of your conventional marketing strategy, try to incorporate something fun that you could share on YouTube as a means of promotion or generating traffic to your site.
